A young mother has sold her newborn twins for $14,000 to help pay for her credit card debt.
The woman known only as Ma, allegedly sold the babies to two different families around 700 kilometres from her home in China.
Following their birth in September last year, it’s reported that the father and his parents had refused to help look after the premature boys.
It’s understood that the woman used the profits to pay for her bills and purchase a new phone after the sale of her children.
Once police caught wind of the transaction, Ma was arrested. She claimed she had become desperate after being left ‘penniless and heavily in debt.’
