Mum confronts man who ‘tried to get her 13-year-old daughter into his car’

The man insisted he had a good reason for his actions

A furious mother from New Zealand has shared footage of the moment she confronted a man who allegedly ‘tried to get her 13-year-old daughter into his car’.

In the video uploaded to Facebook, the woman approaches the man who is asleep in his car near a school at Tauranga.

‘You tried to get my daughter into your car,’ she says in the footage, which has been viewed more than 125,000 times.

The man immediately apologies and insists he is a ‘really good guy’ who was just trying to help.

‘I just pulled over to ask if she was okay and offered her a lift because I was going that way,’ he said.

The woman then responded saying ‘I don’t think you are a good guy. I think you’re preying on children.’

‘I know what you look like, I know you’re car and I get even a whiff that you’re doing this sort of thing, I will take matters into my own hands,’ she added.

Asked whether he thought it was normal to be offering children lifts, the man replied ‘I’m sure she was at least 16’.

However, this only angered the mum more as she retorted, ‘What difference would that make if she was 16?’

Police have confirmed that they received a report of suspicious approaches towards children outside a school in Tauranga.
