Mum arrested after boy, 11, scalded with boiling water as part of viral Youtube challenge

He's been left with severe burns

An 11-year-old boy has suffered third degree burns wafter boiling water was allegedly flung over his body as he slept.

Billy Oliver suffered severe burns on his back, shoulders, neck and upper arms when his friend allegedly poured the scalding water on his body at a sleepover as part of the viral ‘Hot Water Challenge’ seen on YouTube.

The dangerous challenge which sees people pouring boiling water on themselves or other people first made headlines two years ago when an eight-year-old girl was killed after being dared to drink boiling water through a straw.

Following the horrific incident, Billy’s friend’s mum has been arrested, accused of not seeking medical help following the scalding.

Authorities have revealed that Angela Guth turned herself into police on charges of criminal abuse and wanton endangerment.

Taking to Facebook, Billy’s own mother Patricia has begged other parents to talk to their children about the challenge.

‘People please talk to your children this is a nightmare,’ she wrote.

‘He went to sleep and woke with his friend throwing boiling water over him laughing while my boy fit to get his clothes off.’
