It’s common knowledge that the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle had been married to another man before tying the knot with Prince Harry.
But rumours are flying the divorced 37-year-old almost fell into the arms of a reality TV star shortly before meeting her prince.
According to The Sun, Meghan swapped flirty messages with X Factor winner Matt Cardle and struck up an online relationship in 2015.
The recently divorced Suits star was reportedly on the hunt for a new man when she came across 36-year-old Matt four years ago.
‘Matt followed Meghan initially in early 2015 because he thought she was a beautiful star from Suits,’ a source told the publication.
‘But he was stunned when she followed him immediately back and started messaging him. She said she was a big fan of his work.’
However, their brief online fling allegedly fizzled after the UK-born singer met his now-girlfriend Amber Hernaman.
‘It felt like there could have been a connection but the timing was wrong. He didn’t reply to her last message,’ the source added.
Meghan was allegedly on the lookout for a British man after splitting with ex-husband Trevor Engelson in August 2013.
The now Duchess met Prince Harry in July 2016 and the pair were engaged in November 2017. They recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary this month.
