Man tries to yank plane door open MID-FLIGHT

How terrifying

A man had to be restrained on a plane after he attempted to pull open the door while they were mid-air in the sky.

According to The Guardian, the man had suffered a panic attack an hour before the British Airways flight, which was due to land in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from Heathrow, London, on Monday night (2 December).

Distressed, he reportedly shouted, ‘I want to get out,’ before fellow passenger, Dean Whyte, stepped in to help.

Whyte, who is the brother of professional boxer Dillan Whyte, took over from another passenger who was trying to pull the man away from the door.

He wrapped the man in a bear hug, telling him to ‘calm down, bruv,’ repeatedly, which helped calm the passenger down.

The man who has initially tried to help said he was ‘mightily relieved’ when he saw Whyte coming to help.

Whyte told The Guardian, ‘I managed to grab him and was preparing to slam him hard if necessary, but myself and the steward could see he wasn’t quite right in the head so I held him and tried to calm him down. Eventually it worked.’

An airline released a statement saying, ‘Our cabin crew cared for a customer who suffered from a panic attack during the flight. We are sorry for any concern this caused our customers.’
