Five-year-old girl in coma after being found in hot car

So tragic

A five-year-old girl has been placed in an induced coma in hospital after being found unresponsive in a car in Port Stephens.

The little girl was spotted by passers-by who noticed she was left unattended inside the vehicle parked on the driveway of a family home where temperatures had reached 35 degrees.

Police and ambulance were called to the scene where the girl was placed in an induced coma before being airlifted to John Hunter Children’s Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

According to police, the circumstances surrounding the incident are unclear and investigations are still underway.

The news follows reports from the weekend when two toddlers aged 1 ad 2 were found dead inside a hot car at their home in Brisbane.

Their mother, Kerri-Ann Conley has been charged with their murder.
