The twin sister of a baby girl who was found dead at a home in Brisbane has also died.
The six-week-old baby girl was in a critical condition after being rushed to hospital on Wednesday.
But police have confirmed that despite medical treatment, she couldn’t be saved.
Paramedics were called to the home in Sunnybank Hills where they gave first aid to both sisters.
One died at the scene, and the other was taken to hospital.
Police say their deaths are not being treated as suspicious.
It is believed the girls were in bed with their mother when the tragedy occurred.
Police said on Wednesday: “Preliminary investigations suggest the babies were sleeping together throughout the night and were discovered unresponsive.”
Neighbors have spoken of their shock after hearing the girls’ father’s anguished cries in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
An unnamed neighbor told The Courier-Mail: “He was howling and screaming.
“I thought someone was dead and it really scared me. He was so upset.”
Floral tributes and teddy bears have been left outside the family’s home in the wake of the girls’ deaths.
The twins are said to have two older siblings, according to neighbours.
