A mother has died in Bali from a case of the flu.
Donna Dwyer from Darwin, Northern Territory, was on holiday when she was struck down with influenza.
Despite receiving critical care, the mum tragically passed away on the Indonesian island.
Her friend, Dana Walsh, set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds for her sons’ future and cover funeral costs.
Ms Walsh wrote, ‘Donna was a vibrant member of the Darwin community and will be sadly missed. She was an amazing mother and has left behind a young family who are still coming to terms with this tragedy.’
The page, which had a goal of $10,000, has already reached over $16,000 for the family.
Friends left their tribute for the mother, writing, ‘Such a devastating loss, a beautiful woman, amazing mother and friend to many.’
‘Donna was such a beautiful person and a great colleague,’ another wrote.
While someone else said, ‘Rest in peace Donnaroogie, We all miss you very much.’
Travel insurance meant relatives were able to fly Donna’s body back home and are now preparing for the funeral.
