The mother, who wrote under the username Tami_T98 made the revelation on Netmums, a parenting blog.
She wrote: 'A few of my family members think I’m absolutely mad for wanting my makeup, tan lashes and hair done for giving birth. I’m due to be induced on Tuesday I just wanted to see what you lovely ladies thought on the matter.'
Tami's post was met with a divided opinion.
One mother wrote, 'Yes I think you are mad. I am with your family on this. You are going to be giving birth not strutting your stuff in a nightclub.'
Another added, 'No amount of tarting yourself up is going to make up for the fact that you’re about to crap yourself in front of a room full of strangers.'
'I had to tie my hair up I was so hot and all my makeup was smudgy. You get covered in blood (and possibly other things too!),' another disapproving mother wrote.
A New York based make-up artist, Alaha Majid, was met with criticism online after posting to Instagram an image of herself doing her makeup while she was in labour.
'Yes, I was doing my makeup while I was in labour!' she wrote. 'I was pausing during contractions and picking up where I left off once the contractions passed.'
