The sweet black and white cat, who's since been named Muffin, was found cowering under a car in Lidcombe, NSW, with the cord from a whipper-snipper (strimmer) tied around his leg.
Thankfully he was discovered by good samaritan Alexus De Latora who took Muffin to a vet immediately.
'His hind leg had been tied with whipper snipper cable and which had gone into his skin from the inflammation. It was knotted many times and cut off circulation to his foot. They also tried to tape his front paw with duck tape,' described Alexus in a Facebook post.

Sadly the injury was so bad that Muffin's leg had to be amputated. Alexus, who regularly rescues cats, said it was one of the saddest cruelty cases he had ever come across.
'He pulled through operation and now is in recovery. The vets at Colyton Veterinary Hospital are making sure he has enough medication to keep him comfortable from the pain,' explained Alexus. 'The vets told me when Muffin came in his hydration levels were at 15% he would died within 12 hours.'

A charity called CatRescue 901 is helping cover the costs of the operation and follow up treatment and donations can be made here. Once he's recovered, Muffin will also require a loving new home and anyone who's interested can contact CatRescue 901.
