Dean Sanderson, 50, from Adelaide, was on a zip line run by Jungle Surfing Canopy Tours when the line broke.
Mr Sanderson plunged 16 metres to his death in the accident, which happened in Daintree National Park.
His wife Shannon, 48, also fell from the line and is in a serious condition in Cairns Hospital.
The attraction has been closed for the ‘foreseeable future,’ general manager Claire Stevenson said in a statement.
'We’re working closely with Workplace Health and Safety to establish the cause of the accident,' she added.
'Once they have completed their investigation, we’ll have a clearer picture on what caused the accident.'
The ABC reported witnesses heard the zip line twang followed by a 'terrible, blood curdling scream' after the accident which happened on Tuesday.
One customer, who was a paramedic, rushed to help but tragically Mr Sanderson could not be saved.
A friend of the family has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover the costs of Mr Sanderson’s funeral.
A report is being prepared for the Coroner.
