Motorists in Western Australia have become the first in the country to trial new ‘texting bays’ that have been rolled out on regional roads.

Bays have been set up across the state’s Peel and South West regions, including two on the South Western Highway and three more along the Forrest Highway.

The trial aims to discourage people from using their phone while travelling longer distances and will run until April 28.
