Alert as young Aussie mum of two dies of flu

This flu season has claimed another victim after an ACT mum died from a deadly case of influenza.

Mother of two, Jennifer Thew passed away after suffering acute respiratory distress syndrome.

It is believed Jennifer may have contracted the virus from her seven-year-old daughter, Estella.

Thew, who worked as a medical receptionist had also be vaccinated but the current strand of influenza proved far too deadly.

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help the grieving family.

According to the federal health department, 73 deaths are being confirmed to be in relation to the deadly outbreak.

Over 1800 cases of influenza have been reported in just the ACT. One pregnant Melbourne mother remains in a critical condition after contracting the illness in her final stages of pregnancy.
