Former first lady Barbara Bush, the second woman in American history to be a wife and mother of a U.S. President, has passed away at age 92.
An official statement confirming the news was made by her husband George W Bush Senior's office.
A funeral schedule for the late First Lady has not yet been announced.
Bush's health had been deteriorating after multiple hospitalised in 2017 – suffering from congestive heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
During her life, she worked on multiple projects but her most treasured achievement was founding the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy with a goal of improving the lives of disadvantaged Americans by encouraging literacy among parents and their children.
