Rescue teams have are into their fourth day of searching the dangerous and rugged terrain. Cape Patrol Inspector Mark Henderson says they are determined to find the little boy but hopes of finding him alive are fading fast.
'With regret last night I had to sit with the family and advise them that the survivability of their son has now passed... Paediatric experts now tell us survivability has passed. However, we won't stop, we will continue to try to find young Ruben and find closure for the family.'
Earlier this week, Ruben's mum Natasha Scott told 7News that her boy 'was the greatest person ever.'
'He's very gentle and always loves to do hands-on things. He loves his cars, trucks and anything with wheels on them,' she said.
Posting to Facebook on Wednesday, Natasha asked people to share her story to help.
'As people way know my little Ruby has gone missing, I last seen him at 5:44 yesterday afternoon,' she wrote. 'I have every person that can help helping to find him. I understand all you guys are shocked and worried but please, try to hold back from messaging me. I’m trying to organise heaps of things to help find him and am trying to hold myself together. I thank and appreciate all you guys are doing for us, the shares help.'
The search continues.
