In a sensational new memoir released over a decade after his death, Judy Garland’s ex husband Sid Luft claims the actress was repeatedly molested by some of the actors who played the munchkins in The Wizard of Oz.
Making the allegations in Judy and I: My Life with Judy Garland, Sid, who was married to the star 1952-1965, paints a far from pretty picture of what went on behind the scenes of the cult musical.
‘They would make Judy’s life miserable on set by putting their hands under her dress… The men were 40 or more years old,’ wrote the producer and business manager.
‘They thought they could get away with anything because they were so small.’
Indeed Judy herself, who was 16 when she filmed the flick, once described the actors as ‘little drunks’ saying they ‘got smashed every night, and they picked them up in butterfly nets’.
According to The Sun, the unfinished tome was discovered just last year and details Sid’s 13 years of marriage to Judy, who tragically died of an overdose in 1969.
