A traumatised mum’s life ‘has been completely turned upside down’ when she learned her partner of 10 years had been sexually abusing her in her sleep, while filming it.
The man in his 30s was sentenced to 9 years in jail for rape, attempted rape, and sexual assault. The court heard that his wife was a heavy sleeper, particularly when she drank. A fact he took advantage of when he committed the crimes.
His vile acts were uncovered when his wife found videos of the crimes recorded on his phone. In a statement she says:
‘Since that day, my life and that of our children has been completely turned upside down in ways I still cannot come to terms with.’
Court heard that the wife became suspicious when she found an app on her husband’s phone called Video Locker. On a day when he forgot his phone, she managed to access the videos, and what she found changed her life.
She immediately rang her husband and said: ‘ I have just watched videos of you raping me on your phone.’
The man handed himself over to police, was sentenced to 9 years in prison and will be placed on the Sex Offender’s Registry for life.
