When a US father woke in the early hours of the morning to the sound of his two-year-old daughter crying, he went to check on her.
But when he walked into his lounge room of his Arizona apartment, he found a strange man he had never met holding his child.
'I'm your friend,' the man told the father, according to reports by The Washington Post. He then tossed the child onto a nearby lounge while the father struggled to apprehend him. Meanwhile, the father's distressed wife called emergency services.
The stranger, now identified as Oren Aharon Cohen, 34, was able to escape the apartment before being arrested by police.
He was charged with second-degree burglary, aggravated assault and kidnapping.
According to The Washington Post, police found that Cohen had used the toilet and had a glass of orange juice from the family's fridge. They also found his shoe's in the two-year-old's room.
Cohen told police he was 'black out drunk' after visiting a friend in a nearby apartment and did not remember the incident.
A police report revealed he started crying when he was told the victim was a two-year-old girl and maintained he would never hurt a child.
Cohen is being held on a $250,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for this Thursday, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 27.
