A motorist in a Sydney tunnel has caught a truck driver on film so stubborn to prevent a car from merging that both vehicles end up colliding.
The video shows a silver car indicating to move in front of a large truck as the lane ends coming on to the M5 at Marsh Street.
The driver of the car is not confident to move across because the truck is so close, however the road continues to narrow, placing both vehicles perilously close to one another.
Eventually the truck hits the rear corner of the car, causing it to lurch forward. The car eventually manages to merge in front of the truck.
The truck driver’s reluctance to not slow down has inspired heated debate after the video appeared on on the Dash Cam Owners Australia Facebook page with the wry description ‘Sydney Merging in a nutshell.’
One commenter said that the truck driver would not have even see the car due due to a large blind spot.
Others disagree, saying the truck driver’s attitude was the problem and that not only did the truck driver know the car was there but intentionally sped up to block the car from merging.
One thing is for sure - as more and more drivers install dash cams in their cars the more we realise just how dangerous driving on our roads really is!
