Patrick Stallworth, 39, and his girlfriend Derick Brown, 29 have been charged with her death.
Their case will be heard before a grand jury and if convicted, they could face the death penalty.
The court heard Kamille was reported missing after she vanished from a birthday party on October 12.
Two days later, Brown and Stallworth were arrested, but it was a further eight days before Kamille’s body was found.
Prosecutors say DNA from a blood stained plastic sheet found at Brown’s apartment matched both defendants and the victim.
Her remains tested positive for meth and Trazodone, an anti-depressant prescribed for insomnia, according to AL.com.
Detective Jonathan Ross told the court Stallworth had bought $20 of sweets from a gas station before approaching teenagers in a nearby village.
The suspects were arrested two days after Kamille’s disappearance.
Stallworth was initially charged with seven counts of possessing child pornography, while Brown was charged with violating probation conditions in relation to a previous kidnapping.
They were both later charged with Kamille’s death.
