Cancer-stricken 8-year-old whose photo moved the world celebrates heartwarming news

A cancer-stricken eight-year-old whose photograph moved the world is celebrating after receiving heartwarming news.

Australian girl, Hayley Brown, was pictured in October 2016 after she fell asleep leaning on her father, Andrew, as they sat on a couch in hospital.

In the poignant photo – taken by her father – the little girl could be seen without hair – and with just one single eyelash remaining after aggressive chemotherapy treatment.

‘That one last eyelash has been hanging on, on it's own, for a few weeks now,' Mr Brown, a Melbourne-based comedian, captioned the photo at the time.

His little girl had been diagnosed with cancer in June that year – after doctors discovered a five centimetre tumour growing inside her nose.

Eight months of chemotherapy and radiotherapy followed – along with further maintenance treatment in December 2016, which continued for a year.

But now, Hayley’s dad has shared some happy news with New Idea.

Just before Christmas, he was told his little girl is in complete remission.

‘Very happy family here right now,’ Andrew - who blogs as Blog Daddy of 4 - said.

‘There is an ongoing journey with lots more tests over the years. The removal of the port in a few months. Looking for possible longterm side effects as they present themselves and we can deal with them as needed. As well as trying to capture the portion of Hayley’s childhood that she can never get back.’

But the delighted father went on to thank all of those who had supported his family during the most harrowing of times

‘We can now reflect back and see who the true friends and family actually are,’ Mr Brown said.

‘Thank you to all the good, whether it was a surprise or not, you were amazing, it was still appreciated more than I hope you could ever know.’
