Bindi Irwin has been slammed online after encouraging her fans to vote for marriage equality.
The 19-year-old took to Instagram on Friday to share a snap of herself and her close friend Luke Reavley proudly showing off some rainbow-flag inspired face paint.
“I'll see you on the bright side of history, Australia. 💚💛💙💜🌈” she began in the caption.
“Remember to Vote YES for marriage equality. Every love is beautiful and equal.”
While most of her followers were inspired by her post, many were outraged to find that she supported the cause.
"How can you run a zoo and run the country at the same time?" snapped one fan. "My donations will stop until I know where my money is going."
“So disappointed in you Bindi!!” another user wrote. “Lie of the enemy, so sad so many are blind and call it love.”
“God created marriage only between a man and a woman!” concurred another.
“I think you are a great person, but I do not stand for this.”
Others were so offended by her words that they threatened to “unfollow” the wildlife warrior.
Despite the negative feedback she has received, Bindi’s post has since been ‘liked’ almost 40,000 times.
