Police were called to the house in the seaside suburb Glenelg North at around 11pm on Thursday after the woman’s estranged partner could not get in touch with her, ABC Newsreports.
Addressing media today, Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Overmeyer explained the bodies have not yet been identified but are believed to be mother and son.
Asked if it was being treated as a potential murder suicide, Chief inspector Overmeyer said they were “not treating it as anything” and were preparing a report for the coroner.
"An investigation is continuing and it's in its infancy, however, it is believed there is no other person involved in these tragic circumstances," he said.
Chief inspector Overmeyer added that the woman’s estranged partner was "not doing very well at all".
