Tragically, Walsh had a miscarriage on set, while the cameras were rolling, People reports.
“The juxtaposition of college kids going nuts behind our set, while I was losing a baby on it, was surreal,” she writes. “I was scared, nobody knew I was pregnant, so I did the show while having a miscarriage. On television.”
Worse: her husband was a million miles away, watching it all unfold and “texting me hospital options during commercial breaks,” Walsh writes.
Walsh shared her story on Mother’s Day alongside a photo of her twins, Hutton and Bree, who arrived in February after another two miscarriages.
“More than once, I’d have surgery one day and be on SportsCenter the next so as not to draw attention to my situation,” Walsh reveals. “We then went down the IVF road of endless shots and procedures.”
“After several rounds, we could only salvage two eggs.”
Miraculously, Walsh fell pregnant – with twins – but kept her pregnancy quiet for fear of losing them too.
“There would be no baby announcement, no shower, we didn’t buy a single thing in preparation for the babies, because I wasn’t sure they’d show up,” she writes.
Now, Walsh is relishing motherhood, and sharing her story to raise awareness of miscarriages.
