I thought that story about Demis and his website this week was hilarious! I've always wondered what kind of skills I could rent out to people - if they wanted it!

Does anyone know a simple way to make money? I'm thinking the ol' selling lemonade on the street probably won't work lol.

Hey Shoop!

Glad you liked the site!
The trouble with lemonade on the street is that you have to buy the lemons (or grow/steal them depending on your style) then you have to not only make the lemonade, but also make it tasty!

If you're trying to make money for nothing, then you really need to focus on the "nothing" part. Like, with the Awkward Phonecalls thing I put on my website, that costs *them* $10 but it only costs me a few cents, 2 minutes of my day and a bit of guts... pretty much nothing really!

I reckon you just need to come up with a list of things you know you can do well, quickly, without needing to spend much cash yourself to get it going. And hey, feel free to shake your booty on YouTube - a little competition is always healthy for business!

Cheers,

Demis

Thanks for replying Demi!

But then if I start hiring out YouTube dance videos, I'd be competing against the likes of you! If I want to keep it random, maybe I could read an inspirational passage from a book over the phone to someone.. in a funny voice. Or hire out pep talks over the phone.

I have a lot of magazines, and for some reason paper mache comes to mind. Don't think anyone would want my paper mache pinata skills though! I do them all the time for my cousin's parties.

... unless you made Pinata in really unusual shapes, stuff that nobody had ever done before (ones that look like 'the boss', private parts, rival football teams flags/emblems) then really hammered their market with them depicted as "The Ultimate Payback Pinata!" hahaha

Hi there! Love the idea that you offer services that the rest of us want to sweep under the rug! My "idea" for you would be to write up and send the postcards from exotic (or otherwise) destinations that we tend to forget about while we're on holidays. Not sure how this method could be authenticated, but I'm sure you could think of a way to make it appear legit! RJM.

I reckon this was an absolutely hilarious and novel way of making a bit of cash to pay the bills. Loved this whole story

Hey Liza71,
Thanks for the kind words!

Things are already starting to look up a bit now - I wonder what I'll do with the site once life is back to normal again? Perhaps I should just pass it onto a worthy brother or sister out there in need of a few extra dollars who is willing to carry the torch! hahaha

I used to make penis pinatas for hens parties...made a set of boobies too for a bucks show too but the penises sold much better!

They really are simple & your outlay as far as cash is minimal (old newspapers can usually be grabbed for nothing, balloons are pretty cheap too)...they do however take a LOT of time...if you are like me & put a price tag on your time then they are pretty unviable however if you are in need of a new hobby or a way to pass some time & don't really care how long it takes then this could be for you!

I sold through markets on a stall that sold things from about 10 of us so we only paid $2 each for the stall site but you could definately sell on ebay (no such thing when I was doing them!)...
