Do you have a certain piece of clothing that, whenever you wear it, people compliment you on how nice you look? Does it leave you baffled as to why everyone thinks you've got a new 'glow' just because you've dragged that orange top from the back of the wardrobe? Well, the answer probably lies in the colour you're wearing. Most of us know which colours we like, but have you ever thought about what colours really suit you? Get your colours done Our editor Linda had her colours done several years ago and it changed her shopping habits forever! She always wondered why that bright pink suit never really looked right. She adored it but against her fair skin and red hair, the colour left her looking pale and washed out. Then she discovered more murky autumn colours, not brights, worked beautifully with her skin and hair tones. Mossy green, rich brown, dusky blue and deep purple now dominate her wardrobe and she's never looked back. Knowing what colours make you shine is really important. Once you know which colours to look for, it makes shopping a lot easier. Walk into the store, scan the hangers and if your colours aren't there, just move on! Plus, all your clothes will work together a lot better.
Take it as a compliment So how do you find out which colours suit you? Firstly pay attention to those compliments! If they tend to come when you're wearing certain colours, then they're the ones for you. Another fun way to find out your colours is to get your friends over for a 'colour party'. Ask your pals to bring a handful of coloured tops. Take turns holding up different colours under your face. Which ones make you look warm, glowing and healthy? Take note of the tones of colour. Bright green may not suit you, but a pastel green might be just right against your skin. Take the chance to have a clothes swap too!
